A Month of Flowers, Part 3

Here we are at part 3 of my month of flowers. I’ve continued with the themes I mentioned in previous posts, such as combining wild flowers with cultivated ones, but I’ve also been really attracted to combining different textures and playing with how to tie them together with the rest of the elements in an arrangement. In the first photo below, you’ll see smokebush ( a favorite) combined with roses. I really liked the way the colors of the smokebush softly echoed those of the roses. Even though the two plants contribute two very differing stylistic effects, to me they work nicely together. I like things to be pretty, but they’ve got to be interesting too. That was the goal for these arrangements:
