celosiaThis painting is titled Celosia because it depicts three Celosia Cristata stems. The flower is more commonly known as Cockscomb and it’s one of my favorites; a unique flower with a somewhat silly name. Their form and texture looks like a folded up piece of pile-on-pile velvet and it usually comes in strong tones of magenta, red, or yellow. These flowers make an interesting addition to floral arrangements but I realized they also make a great subject for paintings. In fact, I think this will be the first of many.

If you’d like to own a copy of it or give one to someone else, you can do so¬†here.
