Designs for Interiors, Part 2.

Mar 14, 2016 | Artwork, Design, Italy, Portfolio

As I mentioned in my last post, I recently created some new drawings for a rental property that Arlene Gibbs has been working on. For some drawings,  I examined details of the Ara Pacis, a favorite place to visit here in Rome. For these next few illustrations, I drew inspiration from Rome’s many, elaborate and grand door knockers. I strolled through some of my favorite neighborhoods to collect ideas, enjoying the possibility that one day, someone who has seen one of my drawings on the wall may recognize the inspiration for it while exploring the city.

After finding subject matter around Rome, I returned to my favorite focus: flowers. I think flowers make a space feel more like home, whether real or on paper, so it seemed like the right way to interrupt the Roman theme I had initially focused on. Below are the simple still lifes I added to the group of drawings to be displayed throughout the property.
